Makoto Saeki (冴木 まこと, Saeki Makoto) is the main character of the Gingitsune series. She is a second-year high school student whose family has watched over the shrine for 15 generations and she inherited the power to see the gods' agent from Yūko Saeki (Makoto's mother) that she is able to communicate with Gintaro, the fox guardian of the Saeki Shrine and other heralds as well.

Appearance[]

Makoto is an average tall and slender young girl with neck-length light brown hair, light brown round eyes and an oval fave.

She usually wears a traditional miko, which consists of a pair of red hakama tied with a bow and a white haori with red edging around the neck.

Makoto is a very cheerful yet stubborn young girl who is very caring and kindhearted that she tries her best to help others.

Etymology[]

  • The name Makoto is written in hiragana (まこと), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (誠), it could possibly mean "sincerity".
  • Makoto's surname Saeki means "clear, serene, cold, skillful, clear" (冴) (sae) and "tree, wood" (木) (ki).
